If you are doing some serious spring cleanout in the next few weeks or perhaps already have a load of things that need to be dropped off at a donation center, why not instead consider throwing a Swap Party? You can still donate anything that’s left over afterwards, but it’s a fun way to “recycle” clothing and other household items by putting them to a fresh use in new hands.
Plus, a Swap Party provides a creative environment to brainstorm new ways to wear or style a piece of clothing or check out different household items and decorations. This can save you money while still getting different clothing or items to take home. Invite friends and family to get a wide array of items or narrow it down more by gender and clothing sizes so people know what sizes to bring and expect available.
Lane’ at The Green Living Solution shared this great idea and walks through all of the steps on how to host a Swap Party whether on a small or large scale. She even discusses Swap Party ideas involving kids toys and clothes, formal dresses, and even tools (some which I had never thought of for a Swap Party!). I’m thinking of putting one together myself, and if you decide to try one out, let me know how it goes! :)
