This weeks recipe for alfredo sauce is extremely easy to make and really delicious. You’ll notice that this recipe has way less ingredients than in store bought jars. I started with this recipe, but adjusted it slightly to make it more flavorful with some garlic. I also served it with easy baked asparagus– one of my favorite veggie side dishes. The ingredients needed are:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 8 oz room temperature organic cream cheese (or homemade)
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- 2 Tbsp flour (I used spelt)
- 2 small cloves pressed garlic
- salt and pepper
Simply melt butter over low heat and add the pressed garlic. After a minute or two, add the cream cheese and mix it in with a whisk (this will take a little while) until blended. Next, add the milk and flour while still whisking. Once you have a nice, smooth cream stir in the parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper to your taste. Remove it from the heat and let it thicken for a few minutes before serving. I served the sauce over spelt flour noodles, but regular wheat ones would also be a good option.

Yum! I love homemade alfredo! I have a recipe that I like, but it includes heavy cream which I often don’t have on hand. I love that this is made of ingredients that are usually in my fridge (and cupboard)! You just inspired my dinner for tonight! I have asparagus from the Farmer’s Market I need to use up too.
Delish. Will have to try this soon, as Jonathan is a huge lover of alfredo sauce. Thanks, Michelle :)
Emily- so great to hear! I hope you enjoy it. I am also so glad that asparagus is in season :)
And Emili, I hope you guys like it! I’ve tried a few different recipes and this one is by far my favorite!
Delicious! I made this for my hubby on V-day. I wanted a thicker sauce so I added a little arrowroot powder mixed with water and stirred a little in, SO good!! My new favorite recipe for alfredo and easy! Next time I will probably add some homemade garlic rolls to the meal. Thanks for the great recipe!
Making this for dinner tonight! Looks like a great recipe! Will be substituting some of the whole milk for Almond milk because I am out. We either have raw milk or almond here. So hopefully it works! :)
